Isaiah Thomas Apologizes After Calling Cleveland "A S**thole"
Isaiah Thomas is apologizing for making disparaging comments about Cleveland. Thomas was traded to the Cavaliers last off-season, in a deal that sent Kyrie Irving to Boston. Because of an injury, Thomas didn’t play until January of this year. After struggling to mesh with the team, the Cavs sent Thomas to the Lakers in a deal that also saw Larry Nance Jr. and Jordan Clarkson join LeBron in Cleveland. Thomas failed to impress Lakers’ fans and he signed on with the Denver Nuggets this off-season as a free agent. He is now on his sixth team since being drafted in 2011.
Thomas posted a live video on social media where he speaks about all the cities that he has played for. “Sac, LA, and Boston was all love,” he began while Nipsey Hussle’s “Hussle & Motivate” plays in the background. “Cleveland was a shithole. I see why ‘Bron left,” he joked. His comments earned him backlash from Cleveland residents, and Thomas took to Twitter to apologize.
“I apologize for my choice of words about Cleveland. I was on my live playing around,” he wrote. “They don’t show you everything for a reason smh. Right after that I clarified what I said…. All love to everybody who had love for me in Cleveland,” he continued, referencing the fact that subsequent videos of his insult about Cleveland are edited to end right after the comment.
